Morgan Bolding, born on May 13, 1995, is a British rower from Withiel. He became a double world champion in the men’s eight, attributing his early development to his family and the volunteer coaches at Castle Dore Rowing Club. After a challenging childhood, he was raised by his grandparents in Cornwall, where rowing became a significant outlet. Despite a difficult start, his club, particularly coach Alastair Barr, supported his ambition in the sport.
At the age of 16, Bolding relocated to pursue his rowing career further at Walton Rowing Club in Surrey. By 18, in 2013, he competed in the Junior World Rowing Championships as part of the men’s eight. His career continued to advance at Oxford Brookes University, where he significantly improved his skills. These efforts led to his selection for the national team in April 2019. After two demanding years with the team, he was named a reserve for the Tokyo Olympics.
Following the Tokyo Olympics, Bolding returned with renewed determination for the Paris Olympiad. In 2022, he was a member of the first-ever Great Britain Men’s eight to complete an undefeated season. He continued this success in 2023 by retaining both the World and European titles. At the Paris 2024 Olympic Rowing Regatta, Morgan Bolding achieved a gold medal in the Men’s eight.
