Moses Ingram

Monique Denise Ingram, known professionally as Moses Ingram, was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She grew up in a blended family with six children. Her mother worked in childcare, and her stepfather was involved in city operations. Ingram’s introduction to acting began at the age of 10 when her mother and a teacher at Windsor Hills Elementary enrolled her in an after-school theater program. She subsequently attended the Baltimore School for the Arts, graduating in 2012. Facing financial constraints after high school, Ingram initially declined an offer to attend Howard University. She instead enrolled at Baltimore City Community College in 2012, where she was encouraged to continue acting and audition for local productions, funding her education through part-time jobs and scholarships. She earned an associate degree before continuing her academic and theatrical pursuits.

In 2015, Ingram achieved recognition by winning a regional competition with the National Society of Arts and Letters, ultimately placing fourth nationally. This experience led her to audition for the Yale School of Drama at the encouragement of Jonathan Majors, the competition’s winner. Accepted with scholarship support, she began her studies at Yale in the fall of 2016. During her time at Yale, she adopted the name Moses. She received a Princess Grace Award in 2018 and garnered positive reviews for her lead performance as Viola in an Afrocentric adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” in her final year. She graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in June 2019, transitioning directly into professional acting shortly thereafter.

Following her graduation, Ingram’s career began to develop rapidly. A month after receiving her MFA, she successfully auditioned for the role of Jolene in Netflix’s miniseries “The Queen’s Gambit.” Her portrayal earned her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. Her subsequent work includes appearances in “The Tragedy of Macbeth” (2021), “Ambulance” (2022), and a significant role as Reva Sevander / the Third Sister in the Disney+ miniseries “Obi-Wan Kenobi” (2022). For her performance in “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” she received a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Streaming Television Series. Ingram has also been involved in other notable projects, including “Lady in the Lake” and “The Big Cigar” for Apple TV+.
