Nicholas Anthony Martin is a musician from the United States. He is a former member of the band Underminded and the current rhythm guitarist for the rock band Sleeping with Sirens. He was previously a member of the band Cinematic Sunrise as a guitarist. Martin has also played guitar with Isles & Glaciers and D.R.U.G.S, two short-lived post-hardcore supergroups.
Martin began playing guitar when he was ten years old, and his father exposed him to a wide range of musical styles. At an early age, he was profoundly influenced by Queen and The Beatles. Nick formed his first band (Diaper Rash) in eighth grade, influenced by local bands such as Blink-182, Swindle, and Carter Peace Mission. Martin established the rock band Underminded in 1999. They started out as a pop punk band, but evolved into a hardcore punk and post-hardcore band. In 2003, Underminded self-released their first EP, The Task of the Modern Educator, before signing to Kung Fu Records and releasing “Hail Unamerican” in 2004.
The San Diego Music Awards named Underminded Best Hard Rock Band of the Year in 2005. Eleven:Eleven was released in 2007 after they signed with Uprising Records. Martin has since collaborated with Chiodos, Cinematic Sunrise, Isles & Glaciers, and Craig Owens on writing, recording, and touring. Martin has subbed for other musicians in bands such as Slick Shoes (bass) and Norma Jean (vocals). Atreyu’s fourth album, Lead Sails Paper Anchor, and Chiodos’ second album, Bone Palace Ballet, both featured Martin. He is a co-owner of Citadel Artists, the management business that represents Underminded, as well as the metal band Misdelphia.
