Steve Trevino

Steve Trevino was born on January 16, 1978, in Gregory-Portland, Texas. He began his comedy career in 1997 at the age of 19, frequently performing at the Addison Improv Comedy Club in Addison, Texas. During his early career, Trevino often supported headlining comedians by taking them to promotional radio interviews. One of his first significant opportunities came when he opened for Carlos Mencia at 19. From 2005 to 2006, he served as a writer and performer on Mencia’s television show, “Mind of Mencia,” which aired on Comedy Central.

In 2008, Trevino expanded his career by becoming a writer and producer for Pitbull’s mun2 television show, “La Esquina.” He made stand-up comedy appearances on notable programs including “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” “Comics Unleashed,” and “ComicView.” His first stand-up special, “Steve Treviño: Grandpa Joe’s Son,” premiered on Showtime in 2012. This was followed by “Steve Treviño: Relatable,” which aired on NuvoTV in February 2014 and later became available on Netflix. This special was recorded at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi.

Trevino continued to produce successful stand-up specials, releasing “Steve Treviño: ‘Til Death” in January 2019, available on Amazon Prime Video. In June 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he launched “Steve Treviño & Captain Evil: The Podcast” with his wife, Renae “Captain Evil” Treviño, discussing their marriage and family life. His fourth special, “Steve Treviño: My Life in Quarantine,” filmed in front of a socially-distanced audience, was released in October 2020. His self-produced fifth special, “Steve Treviño: I Speak Wife,” was released independently on YouTube in October 2022. Most recently, his special “Steve Treviño: Simple Man” was released on Netflix in 2024, continuing his focus on family-oriented humor.
