Nick Mattoon

Nick Mattoon is a former professional ski jumper who competed on the international circuit, achieving notable results in FIS and Continental Cup events, now sharing his expertise as a coach. After becoming a Junior National winner and a member of five Central Junior National Teams, Nick Mattoon went on to distinguish himself on the international ski jumping circuit. He began his ski jumping career with the Eau Claire Flying Eagles, transitioning to special jumping after the 2011 season, which led to his membership in the USA Junior World Nordic team and extensive competition across Europe. In February 2013, Mattoon tied for third place at the Fred Harris Memorial ski jumping tournament in Brattleboro, VT, before achieving his longest jump of 122.5 meters at Whistler Olympic Park in March 2013.

His international competitive success continued with a notable 9th place finish in a FIS Cup in Notodden, Norway, in December 2013. Mattoon further cemented his reputation as a formidable competitor by becoming a two-time U.S. Cup Champion and securing a 3rd place finish at the U.S. National Championships in 2015.

During this time, he transitioned his focus to sharing his extensive expertise, taking on a coaching role for the Eau Claire Flying Eagles Ski Club. In this capacity, Mattoon began guiding and developing emerging talent, leveraging his professional experience and deep understanding of the sport. Currently, Nick Mattoon maintains his strong connection to the ski jumping community through his ongoing coaching commitments. His career exemplifies a sustained dedication to the sport, from his early achievements as a junior athlete and professional competitor to his present role as a mentor and coach, fostering the next generation of ski jumpers.
