Nico Santos was born in Manila, Philippines, on April 7, 1979. He relocated to the United States at the age of sixteen, settling in Gresham, Oregon, and attending Centennial High School. His early academic pursuits included studying acting at Southern Oregon University, followed by several years working in the costume department at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Santos later moved to California, where he began performing as a stand-up comedian and was a regular on the talk show roundtable “Chelsea Lately” (E! 2007-2014).
Santos’ acting career gained significant momentum with his role as Mateo in the NBC series “Superstore,” which ran from 2015 to 2021 for 113 episodes. Concurrently, he secured a notable role as Oliver T’sien in the 2018 film “Crazy Rich Asians,” which contributed to his broader recognition. More recently, he appeared as Recorder Theel in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” (2023) and as Hugh in “Happiness for Beginners” (2023). His voice acting credits include Jonathan in “Hailey’s on It!” (2023–2024) and Robert in “The Prince” (2021).
