Olivia Frances Culpo was born on May 8, 1992, in Cranston, Rhode Island. She is the third eldest of five siblings. Culpo began studying the cello in second grade and played in several orchestras, including the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the Boston Accompanietta. She attended St. Mary Academy – Bay View and later Boston University.
Her career in pageantry began with her first competition, winning Miss Rhode Island USA in 2012. This victory led her to compete in Miss USA 2012, which she also won. On December 19, 2012, Culpo represented the United States and was crowned Miss Universe 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada, becoming the eighth U.S. representative to win the title and the first from Rhode Island. Following her Miss Universe win, she engaged in promotional activities and charity work, including visiting Indonesia in 2013 to crown Puteri Indonesia 2013 and host discussions on HIV and youth prevention for the United Nations Population Fund.
Beyond pageantry, Culpo transitioned into a career as a fashion influencer and internet celebrity, gaining a significant following on social media platforms. She has collaborated with numerous beauty and fashion brands. In acting, Culpo has appeared in films such as “The Other Woman” (2014), “I Feel Pretty” (2018), and “Reprisal” (2018), and on television in shows like “Paradise City” (2021) and as a contestant on “The Masked Singer” (2023). She also co-hosted the Miss Universe pageants in 2022, 2023, and 2024, and in 2025, she hosted “Next Gen Chef” on Netflix.
