Singer songwriter Omar Apollo shot to fame after his first single went viral on Spotify and has been nominated for two Latin Grammy Awards.
Apollo is Mexican-American, and is known for performing in both English and Spanish. He started playing guitar when he was just 12 years old, learning from videos on YouTube and practicing at his local church. He began to write his own music, uploading his tracks and videos to SoundCloud where he started to build up a fanbase. In 2017 he released his first single Ugotme to Spotify, which went viral overnight after it was included in a major playlist on the streaming site. The following year Apollo released his first EP, Stereo, which received both critical and public acclaim before embarking on his Want Tour. Following sold out shows and an increasing international audience, he set off on another world tour in 2019 as well as releasing his next EP, Friends. Performances at major festivals such as SXSW and Lollapalooza soon followed as well as more successful singles. 2020 saw Apollo release his debut album, Apolonio, and he is now well established as one of the most popular singer-songwriters of his generation.
With his career going from strength to strength, Apollo recently performed on The Tonight Show and was nominated for two Latin Grammys in the Best Alternative Song and Record of the Year categories.
