Oscar Nunez was born on November 18, 1958, in Cuba. His family relocated to Caracas, Venezuela, in 1960, and subsequently to the United States. He became a naturalized American citizen in 1964. Nunez lived in Boston and Union City, New Jersey, during his early years. His educational background includes studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology and the Parsons School of Design, and he also became a certified dental technician after attending the Magna Institute of Dental Technology. He began his comedy career in New York with The Shock of the Funny theater company, performing over 300 shows, and later joined The Groundlings in Los Angeles.
Nunez rose to prominence with his role as Oscar Martinez in the popular NBC series ‘The Office,’ which aired from 2005 to 2013, garnering him significant recognition and two Screen Actors Guild Awards for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series. Beyond ‘The Office,’ Nunez co-created and co-starred in the Comedy Central series ‘Halfway Home’ in 2007, where he was also an executive producer. His film credits include ‘The Italian Job’ (2003), ‘The Proposal’ (2009), ‘Baywatch’ (2017), ‘The Lost City’ (2022), and ‘Dashing Through the Snow’ (2023).
