Spain’s Pablo Sarabia has tasted top-flight success in both his home country and neighbouring France. His first season at current club Paris Saint-Germain saw him score 14 goals, helping them to Ligue 1 victory. During his time at previous club Sevilla, he was named in UEFA’s La Liga Team of the Season. At international level, he had the distinction of captaining the Spanish side that won the 2011 European U-19 Championships. In 2019, he won his first cap for the senior international side, and will surely be an integral part of the postponed Euro 2020 tournament.
Sarabia was born in Madrid in 1992 and was signed by local team (and one of the biggest clubs in the world) Real Madrid aged just 12. He made his first professional appearance for them just under six years later, becoming part of the Real Madrid B team that competes in the Spanish third tier. By the end of the year, he had been given a first-team debut like no other: coming on as a substitute for Cristiano Ronaldo in a Champions League game — a dream come true for any 18-year-old. The following year, he moved to La Liga rivals Getafe. He would spend five seasons there, making 145 appearances.
Sarabia joined Sevilla in summer 2016. Here, he established himself as an attacking midfielder of note, scoring 42 goals in over 150 appearances, including a Copa del Ray final and UEFA Super Cup final. In summer 2019, French giants Paris Saint-Germain signed him and he quickly made his mark as they won their third consecutive Ligue 1 title.
