Paul Virzi, best known as a stand-up comedian, has spent most of his life in the suburbs of New York City. Virzi often time talks about how much he loves his family, smoking cigars and having pointless sports arguments with his friends. His passion for comedy and becoming a stand-up comedian began at an early age. Virzi went to one of Eddie Murphy’s RAW stand-up comedies in 1987. Although little at the time, and probably unaware of some of the jokes he was hearing from Eddie Murphy, Virzi became intrigued by the whole idea of speaking in front of an audience and making that crowd of people laugh and feel happy. Virzi is known for making waves and raising eyebrows every time he touches a microphone. In 2000, Virzi entered a contest in upstate New York. This contest was called The Hudson Valley’s Funniest Man and it was for a popular radio station. In it, there were 20 contestants, and the whole program lasted for more than two months. Virzi was funny enough to make it to the final. It was since after that contest that Virzi kept on organizing numerous shows for some of the best comedians in business. Comics like Dave Attell of Comedy Central’s Insomniac and The Gong Show, and Bill Burr of Comedy Central’s Chappelle’s Show, and his own one hour special Why Do I Do This. Virzi has performed all over the country for many of the nation’s top comedy clubs and he has been someone his audience felt comfortable and happy with.
