Paula Malcomson is an Irish actress who has appeared in a number of big productions. Young fans might recognise her as the mother of Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games franchise, but she is also well known for her role in the action thriller, Ray Donovan, and she also featured in Sons of Anarchy and Deadwood.
Malcomson began her acting career in 1992 in a role as a bartender, but quickly rose through the ranks and landed some bigger roles. She appeared in a modern version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet as Marcella and also has a small role in the adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, The Green Mile.
However, her true success came when she landed a leading role in Deadwood as her character, Trixie. She was a main character in the show for its entire run of two years, but she also appeared on ER and Lost while she was filming Deadwood, keeping herself busy and in the spotlight.
Two of her best-known projects, The Hunger Games franchise and Ray Donovan, overlapped between 2012 and 2015, which is possibly the peak of her illustrious career. The Hunger Games films became classics in their own right, enticing millions of fans all over the world. Her success in Ray Donovan is also not to be forgotten, and she appeared in sixty episodes over the span of five years before eventually leaving the show behind. Her most recent significant project has been the Deadwood film adaptation in which she starred.
