Penn & Teller

Penn & Teller are American magicians and entertainers who have performed together since 1975, known for their unique blend of comedy, magic, and scientific skepticism. After performing their inaugural show at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival in August 1975, Penn & Teller went on to define a unique blend of comedy, magic, and scientific skepticism. Initially performing as part of the trio ‘The Asparagus Valley Cultural Society’ from the late 1970s through 1981, they transitioned to a duo act, headlining ‘Mrs. Lonsberry’s Seance of Horror.’ By 1985, their distinctive approach to magic, which often involved revealing methods, garnered critical acclaim for their Off-Broadway show and led to an Emmy Award-winning PBS special, ‘Penn & Teller Go Public.’ This early success culminated in their first Broadway run in 1987, the same year they notably appeared as three-card Monte scam artists in Run-DMC’s iconic ‘It’s Tricky’ music video.

Further showcasing their versatility, the duo hosted ‘Penn & Teller Tell a Lie’ on Discovery Channel in 2011 and were honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in April 2013. Penn & Teller’s contributions to the arts have garnered continued recognition, including a BAFTA Award nomination in 2014 for their documentary ‘Tim’s Vermeer’ and an Olivier Award nomination in 2020. In 2022, they competed as ‘Hydra’ on Fox’s popular reality competition series ‘The Masked Singer.’ Looking ahead, the duo is scheduled for induction into The Magic Circle in 2025 during their 50th-anniversary residency at the London Palladium, a prestigious honor reflecting their enduring impact on magic and entertainment.
