Dr Chris Van Tulleken is an NHS infectious diseases doctor, a New York Times bestselling author, and a prominent science presenter, known for his work in public health communication and research. After receiving the Max Perutz award in 2016 for his HIV research conducted during his PhD in molecular virology, Dr Chris Van Tulleken established himself as a leading voice in public health communication and research. He pursued his medical training at Oxford University, specializing in infectious disease and tropical medicine. Dr.
Van Tulleken’s career has been dedicated to impactful public health campaigns and investigations. In 2017, he created The Dr Who Gave Up Drugs for BBC One, a campaigning series addressing antibiotic resistance and reliance on prescription drugs, followed by a second series focusing on children in 2018. Building on this work, he further explored the effects of ultra-processed foods on children in What Are We Feeding Our Kids? for BBC One.
His deep dive into this subject culminated in the authorship of the international bestseller Ultra-Processed People in 2023, which also became a New York Times bestseller. Until February 2018, Dr. Van Tulleken served as a patron and board member of Doctors of the World UK. Most recently, Dr.
