Peter Gallagher

Peter Gallagher earned critical early acclaim for his stage work, including starring as Danny Zuko in the 1978 Broadway production of Grease. He later received the Clarence Derwent Awards for Most Promising Male in 1984 for his role alongside Glenn Close in Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing. His feature film debut came in Taylor Hackford’s The Idolmaker in 1980, and he achieved wider recognition for his role in Steven Soderbergh’s critically acclaimed film sex, lies, and videotape in 1989. Gallagher continued to build a distinguished filmography with roles in Robert Altman’s The Player in 1992, and earned a Golden Globe Special Ensemble Cast Award and Volpi Cup for Best Ensemble Cast for Short Cuts in 1993.

He further showcased his singing abilities as Mitch Clarke in Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist from 2020 to 2021, and appeared as Dr. David Hamilton in Grey’s Anatomy from 2021 to 2022.

Looking ahead, Gallagher is set to return to the Broadway stage in 2024 for Left on Tenth, continuing his versatile career that spans decades in film, television, and theater.
