Phil Babb

Phil Babb is a former professional footballer and manager who has transitioned into sports television punditry, offering insights on Sky Sports and LFC TV. After a record-breaking transfer for a defender, Phil Babb joined Liverpool on September 1, 1994, for £3.6 million, following impressive performances earlier in his career. Babb began his senior career with Bradford City in 1990, where he made 80 league appearances and scored 14 goals. His success led to a move to Coventry City in July 1992 for a fee of £500,000, playing two seasons before his landmark transfer to Liverpool.

During his six Premier League seasons with Liverpool, Babb played in 170 matches across all competitions, scoring one goal against Coventry in September 1996, and was a key part of the squad that won the 1995 Football League Cup. Internationally, Babb earned 35 caps for the Republic of Ireland, representing his country in the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Following his impactful tenure at Liverpool, Babb joined Tranmere Rovers on loan in January 2000, contributing to their run to the 2000 Football League Cup Final.
