About

Christen Press was born on December 29, 1988, in Palos Verdes Estates, California. From an early age, she demonstrated exceptional talent in soccer, scoring a remarkable number of goals. Her club team, Slammers FC, was undefeated at the U-14 level, with Press scoring all three goals in their 3-2 national championship victory. She consistently earned MVP and Golden Boot awards in youth tournaments such as Nationals, Nike, and Surf Cup. Despite these early successes, she was not initially called up for U.S. Youth National Teams, which fueled her motivation to prove her abilities.

Press continued her impressive performance at Stanford, becoming the all-time leading goal-scorer with 71 goals and earning the Hermann Trophy in 2010. Her professional career began in 2011, where she was named WPS Rookie of the Year. When the Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) league folded in 2012, Press moved to Sweden, playing for Göteborg FC. There, she achieved further success, becoming the leading goal-scorer in the Swedish league in 2013 under the mentorship of Torbjörn Nilsson, a renowned Swedish football figure. Her performance in Sweden led to her being called up to the U.S. Women’s National Team, where in February 2013, she earned her first cap, first start, and scored two goals. In her next game, she scored again, making her the only woman to score three goals in her first two games for the U.S. National Team.

Returning to the NWSL in 2014, Press continued to play at a high level, later joining the Utah Royals and then Angel City FC in 2021. Beyond her playing career, Press has co-founded RE—INC, a gender-neutral lifestyle brand, in 2019 with fellow athletes Megan Rapinoe, Tobin Heath, and Meghan Klingenberg. This venture includes The RE-CAP Show, a soccer podcast. Her work with RE—INC and her personal brand demonstrate her commitment to impacting aspiring young players and advocating for women’s sports both on and off the field.
