The fabulous filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is a director, writer, actor, producer, author, and podcaster, who is best known for his movies Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Kill Bill. Critically and commercially successful, he has won two Oscars, two BAFTAS, the Palme D’or at Cannes, and four Golden Globes.
Born and raised in Tennessee, and then later in Los Angeles, Tarantino fell in love with the movies from a young age, and was writing his own screenplays when he was a teenager. He has famously stated that he didn’t go to film school, but “went to films”, and eventually worked at a video store. He got his first Hollywood job at Video Archives as a production assistant and went to acting classes while continuing to write screenplays.
Tarantino’s filmmaking career began after meeting producer Lawrence Bender at a friend’s party at which he discussed a heist movie with him. That movie turned out to be Reservoir Dogs, which was released in 1992 to critical and commercial acclaim. Tarantino never looked back, and after selling two scripts (True Romance, and Natural Born Killers) he went on to write, direct, and appear in a number of hugely successful and popular movies, including Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, and The Hateful Eight.
