Graduating with honors and earning the distinction of valedictorian from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, Rachel Sklar transitioned into full-time freelance journalism. Her work appeared in prominent national publications including ‘The New York Times,’ ‘Glamour,’ ‘Financial Times,’ and ‘Chicago Tribune.’ In 1998, she co-authored the self-published book ‘A Stroke of Luck: Life, Crisis and Rebirth of a Stroke Survivor’ alongside Howard Rocket. Earlier, Sklar served as Vice-President Communications of the University Students’ Council and contributed to ‘The Gazette’ at the University of Western Ontario. Sklar’s career significantly advanced within the evolving media landscape.
Sklar’s advocacy continued to be lauded, with Datamation including her in their 2012 list of ’10 Women in Tech Who Give Back.’ In 2015, she and her daughter Ruby were named as part of The Forward 50.
