Raquel Pomplun

Raquel Pomplun was born in San Diego, CA, and spent her formative years in Tijuana, B.C., Mexico, before moving back to San Diego in 2000. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she pursued studies in biochemistry at Southwestern College and also trained as a classical ballet dancer. Her career began to gain significant attention in 2012 when she was featured as Playboy’s Playmate of the Month for April. This was followed by a major milestone in 2013, as she became the first Mexican-American to be named Playboy’s Playmate of the Year, photographed by Arny Freytag. Her work as a model includes appearances on numerous magazine covers and print advertising campaigns for various companies.

Pomplun transitioned her modeling success into acting, appearing in notable productions such as the Paramount Pictures’ motion picture “The Gambler” (2014), where she played a Bottle Service Girl alongside Mark Wahlberg. She also held roles in television series like “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (2015) as an International Model and Fox’s “Lucifer” (2018) as a Sexy Jogger. Beyond episodic roles, she took on a lead role in the horror movie “Warnings” (2019) as Leah. Her acting portfolio also includes the short film “Dead West: The Devil’s Assassin” (2023) as Lasher and the film “Kids Can” (2023), playing a character named Raquel. She also appeared in “Bullet Ride” (2020) as Vida and “The Taker” (2016) as Katie.

In addition to her acting work, Pomplun ventured into content creation and comedy. She produced and starred in the online comedy sketch series “Chocolate Milk Series” (2015-2016) alongside Malorie Mackey, where she played the character Raquel across 27 episodes. She also served as a writer for one episode of the series in 2016. In 2016, she starred as the lead in the premium short-form series “Infini” for HollyShorts Studios. Demonstrating further versatility, Pomplun began a career in stand-up comedy in March 2018, performing at venues like Flappers Comedy Club and participating in various contests. She also co-produces “The Melting Pot Show” with Irina Voronina, aiming to promote cultural diversity through comedy.
