The legendary Reb Brown is an actor best known for playing the lead in the 1970s TV movie Captain America, and its sequel Captain America II: Death Too Soon, and for his appearance in many 1980s action-films, including Uncommon Valor with Gene Hackman.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Brown excelled in American football, basketball and baseball during his youth. After graduating from High School, he was recruited by sixty-four universities to play college football, as well as by UC Santa Barbara for baseball. He accepted a football scholarship to attend the University of Southern California, but after graduating his life took a different path to professional sport when he was signed by a Hollywood agent.
Brown began his acting career with a debut in the 1973 horror Sssssss, which was quickly followed by bit parts in The Girl Most Likely to…, Earthquake, and in the TV show Kojak. But it was when he was cast as Steve Rogers/Captain America in the 1979 TV Movie Captain America that his cult fame rose. He went on to become an action movie regular throughout the 1980s, appearing in such movies as Uncommon Valor, Death of a Soldier, Space Mutiny, and Street Hunter. On the small screen he became a familiar face, too, and could be seen in episodes of such popular shows as CHiPs, The Six Million Dollar Man, and Miami Vice. Then, after not appearing on screen for 18 years, he co-starred in the 2012 horror, Night Claws.
Brown doesn’t currently connect with his huge fanbase through social media, but he is available for that personalised shout-out via the Cameo platform. He also has an official website, rebbrownofficialwebsite.com.
