Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Rhett Walker is not your typical Christian artist. Although he is the son of a preacher, Walker was a troublemaker throughout his teens – mixing with the wrong crowd and living in the moment. After a succession of poor choices, from fighting to taking drugs, Walker paid the price and was expelled from school before meeting his now wife, April. Becoming a father at 17 years old opened Walker’s eyes, and he turned back to the faith he once rebelled against. Finding freedom in God, Walker found his voice as a performance artist. From there, he would go on to tour with some of the most prominent Christian artists around and has since released three highly acclaimed albums – Come to the River, Here’s to the Ones and Good to Me. With his rich, velvet vocals infused with his country to melodic rock sound, Walker is in a league of his own.
Refreshingly raw and heartfelt, Walker’s music takes you through his personal journey. From overcoming the dark parts of his life to realising the power of God’s grace, Walker unashamedly tells his story. For instance, his well-received single “Believer” is a song all about how God gives you the freedom to overcome daily struggles and the thoughts of “I’m just not good enough.” Whereas his Grammy-nominated debut single “When Mercy Found Me” speaks of his relationship with Christ and how that moment of freedom changed Walker forever. With the release of “Gospel Song” and a range of exciting projects in the works, Walker continues to make music for the glory of his God.
