At international level, the talented forward made his senior debut for his country in 2018 and has already won the 2019 Copa América and a gold medal at the 2020 Olympic tournament with Brazil, and played at the 2022 FIFA World Cup scoring a brace in Brazil’s 2–0 opening win over Serbia. Away from the football pitch he is committed to raising awareness for those less fortunate in society and has spoken out on social justice issues such as police violence, the environment, and human rights. The football ace donates 10% of his salary to a home for cancer patients in his native Brazil, and also supports 100 families in his hometown.
Born Richarlison de Andrade in Nova Venécia, his professional football career began at Brazilian club América Mineiro’s youth setup. After helping the side win promotion from the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B he joined Fluminense, where his quality began to shine through as he racked up 19 goals in 67 matches and he was named in the Team of the Season. In August 2017 the Brazilian completed a move to Watford in the English Premier League for £11.2 million, and became the only player in the squad to play every match of the season. A year later he signed for Everton, and in the summer of 2022 joined Tottenham Hotspur.
