Rob Morrow

Rob Morrow was born Robert Alan Morrow on September 21, 1962, in New Rochelle, New York. His mother, Diane Francis (née Markowitz), was a dental hygienist, and his father, Murray Morrow, was an industrial lighting manufacturer. Morrow grew up in Hartsdale, New York, and had a Reform Bar Mitzvah. He left Edgemont High School during his senior year to pursue an acting career, making his film debut as an extra at 18 on ‘Saturday Night Live’. Early in his career, he appeared alongside Johnny Depp in ‘Private Resort’ (1985) and was known for Dentyne gum commercials.

Morrow gained significant recognition for his lead role as Dr. Joel Fleischman in the television series ‘Northern Exposure’ from 1990 to 1995. This role earned him three Golden Globe nominations and two Emmy Award nominations for ‘Best Actor in a Dramatic Series.’ He transitioned to film work, starring as Dick Goodwin in Robert Redford’s Oscar-nominated film ‘Quiz Show’ (1994) and appearing in ‘Mother’ (1996) opposite Albert Brooks. He also directed and starred in the independent feature ‘Maze’ (2000), a film he also wrote and produced.

From 2005 to 2010, Morrow starred as FBI agent Don Eppes in the CBS hit drama ‘Numb3rs’, further extending his television presence. His directorial credits include episodes of ‘Numb3rs’, HBO’s ‘Oz’, ‘Street Time’, and ‘Joan of Arcadia’. He has also taken on recurring roles in shows like ‘Billions’ as Judge Adam DeGiulio, ‘Designated Survivor’ as reporter Abe Leonard, and portrayed Barry Scheck in ‘The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story’. Morrow continues to be active in both acting and directing and is a board member of Project ALS, an organization dedicated to funding research for ALS.
