About

Robert Craig Smith was born on August 11, 1975, in St. Joseph, Michigan, and raised in Tustin, California. Recognizing his creative talents early on, he was voted “Class Clown” in 8th grade and pursued musical theater training. He attended Chapman University, where he earned a B.A. in Screenwriting in 2003. During his time at university, he actively participated in public speaking, addressing both his 8th and 12th-grade graduations, and was elected freshman class president in high school. He also hosted a local live TV talk show, showcasing an early aptitude for performance and communication. Before transitioning to voice acting, Smith honed his performance skills as a stand-up comedian for five years.

In 2005, Smith fully dedicated himself to voice acting, marking a significant turning point in his career. His versatile vocal range quickly established him as a prominent figure in the industry. A notable milestone came in 2007 when he began his long-standing role as the narrator for TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress,” a position he has held for over 1,000 episodes. In 2010, he took on the iconic role of Sonic the Hedgehog for SEGA, a character he continues to voice in numerous video games, films, and animated series. His extensive body of work also includes voicing Ezio Auditore da Firenze in Ubisoft’s “Assassin’s Creed” series, with over 28 million copies sold worldwide.

Smith’s career further expanded into major superhero roles, beginning in 2012 when he started voicing Captain America in Disney XD’s “Avengers: Black Panther’s Quest” and other Marvel projects. He also became the voice of Batman in WB’s “Batman: Arkham Origins” in 2013, reprising the role in various DC/WB productions, including the film “Superman: Red Son” and the “Batman Unlimited” trilogy. Beyond these well-known characters, he has voiced a diverse array of personalities for leading companies such as Cartoon Network, Xbox Game Studios, and Amazon Prime, demonstrating a broad appeal and consistent demand for his vocal talents. His ability to connect with audiences of all ages is also reflected in his apolitical and family-friendly social media presence, where he shares his passions for nature and photography.
