Robert Miano

Robert Miano was born in New York City on September 25, 1942, and was raised in the South East Bronx. His entertainment career began at the age of 15 when a talent agent discovered him singing with a doo-wop group on a Bronx street corner. This led to a recording on the Cub Label, a subsidiary of MGM Records, and he later became a Columbia Recording Artist. Miano enjoyed performing live, making appearances on television, in nightclubs, hotels, and concerts. This early start provided a foundation in performance, setting the stage for his subsequent pivot into acting. After a successful stint in music, Miano expanded his creative pursuits and studied method acting with Lee Strasberg and Warren Robertson in New York. His film career commenced in 1973 with a role in “Badge 373,” directed by Howard W. Koch, following a part in “Death Wish” (1974) by Michael Winner. Miano then relocated to Los Angeles, where he has resided for over 30 years, building an extensive acting portfolio. He has appeared in over 100 feature films, taking on starring and co-starring roles alongside notable actors.

Throughout his career, Miano has established a strong presence in both film and television. He is recognized for his performances in major productions such as “Donnie Brasco” (1997), where he played Sonny Red alongside Al Pacino and Johnny Depp, and “Dungeons & Dragons” (2000) with Jeremy Irons. His film credits also include collaborations with Morgan Freeman in “Edison” (2005) and Christopher Walken in “The Funeral” (1996). On television, Miano has guest-starred in numerous shows, including “Frasier” (1993), “Caroline in the City” (1995), “The Shield” (2002), and “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” (1993). He also held recurring roles on soap operas like “General Hospital” (1963) and “The Young and the Restless” (1973). Beyond acting, Miano is a an active individual who enjoys playing chess and is a lifetime member of the Actors Studio, where he also dedicates time to coaching aspiring actors.
