About

Robert Milkins was born on March 6, 1976, in Bedminster Down, Bristol, England. He turned professional in 1995. Milkins achieved his first career ranking title at the 2022 Gibraltar Open, where he defeated Kyren Wilson 4-2. This victory made him the oldest first-time winner of a ranking event since Doug Mountjoy in 1988. This accomplishment followed six previous semi-final appearances in ranking events without progressing to the final match. A year later, Milkins secured his second ranking title at the 2023 Welsh Open, triumphing over Shaun Murphy with a score of 9-7. This win was particularly notable as he entered the tournament as a 125/1 outsider. His performance in the 2022-2023 season, including reaching the semi-finals at the German Masters, contributed to him earning a BetVictor Series bonus of £150,000.

Throughout his career, Milkins demonstrated notable abilities, including compiling three maximum breaks, two of which occurred during the qualifying stages of the World Championship in 2006 and 2012. He is the only player to achieve this specific distinction. The period between 2012 and 2015 marked a strong phase in his career, during which he reached four semi-finals, including consecutive runs at the 2013 Wuxi Classic and Australian Goldfields Open. These consecutive strong performances led to his entry into snooker’s top 16 for the first time, reaching a career-high world ranking of number 12 in February 2014. Robert Milkins has participated in the televised stages of the World Championship on ten occasions, winning his opening match five times. Notably, he defeated former world champion Neil Robertson twice. In 2023, he mounted a comeback from a 2-7 deficit against Joe Perry to win their last 32 match 10-9.
