About

Robin Sharma was born in Mbale, Uganda, in 1965, and immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada, at one year old. He was raised in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia. His father was a physician and his mother a teacher. He pursued higher education at Dalhousie University, where he initially studied biology with a minor in romantic poetry and later earned a Master’s degree in law. Sharma began his professional life as a litigation lawyer, working for a law firm and the Department of Justice in Ottawa until the age of 25. He found this career path did not provide personal satisfaction.

Sharma transitioned from his legal career to writing at 25, self-publishing his first book, “Megaliving!” (1994), focusing on stress management and spirituality. He gained significant recognition with his second self-published book, “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari” (1997), which was later picked up for wider distribution by HarperCollins. This success led him to become a full-time writer and public speaker. Over the years, Sharma has published 12 additional books, including “The Saint, the Surfer, and the CEO” (2002) and “The 5 AM Club” (2018). His works have sold over 25 million copies across more than 96 nations, making him a #1 bestselling author.

Beyond his writing, Sharma founded Sharma Leadership International, a training company. He is considered one of the top five leadership experts globally and has been a trusted advisor and keynote speaker for numerous major organizations. His clientele includes corporations such as Nike, IBM, FedEx, Microsoft, General Electric (GE), Procter & Gamble (P&G), Hewlett-Packard (HP), Oracle, and professional organizations like Yale University, Harvard Business School, and NASA. Sharma also established The Robin Sharma Foundation for Children (RSFC), a registered charitable foundation dedicated to helping children living with leprosy, with a portion of royalties from “The 5AM Club” directly supporting these efforts. His social media reach exceeds 600 million people annually, solidifying his influence in leadership and personal development.
