Rod Strickland

During his 87 appearances at DePaul, Strickland averaged 16.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game with a .534 field goal percentage. This collegiate success led to him being drafted 19th overall by the New York Knicks in the 1988 NBA Draft, marking the start of a distinguished 17-year NBA playing career. In his rookie season, Strickland was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 1989. Over his extensive NBA career, Strickland played for nine different franchises, including the San Antonio Spurs, Portland Trail Blazers, Washington Bullets/Wizards, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Orlando Magic, Toronto Raptors, and Houston Rockets.

Most recently, Strickland served as the Program Manager for the NBA G League’s Professional Path, a role he held prior to 2022, where he was instrumental in developing emerging talent. In 2022, he was appointed Head Coach of the Long Island University men’s basketball team, where he continues to leverage his deep understanding of the game and extensive professional experience to guide and develop the next generation of collegiate athletes.
