Ron Bultongez

Born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ronald Bultongez, known as Ron Bultongez, immigrated to the USA in the mid-2000s alongside his mother and siblings. He navigated a challenging upbringing, including experiences with youth homelessness, shelters, and foster care. Despite these obstacles, he pursued his interest in college football before shifting his focus to a music career. His journey in music led him to become a Top 24 Finalist on the 2018 season of ABC’s “American Idol.”

Following his appearance on “American Idol,” Ron Bultongez expanded his involvement in music, public speaking, and television. He dedicated time to community work, particularly in Plano, Texas, where he spoke at schools and volunteered. He advocates for the importance of community support and resilience, sharing his personal narrative of overcoming adversity. Bultongez has also been involved in music partnerships, working with organizations such as Music Audience Exchange (MAX).

As a father to James Melody Bultongez and the legal guardian of his two younger brothers, Ron Bultongez maintains a commitment to his family responsibilities. His professional activities include roles as a music artist, singer-songwriter, and actor. He has appeared in television series like “Texas Sports Nation In-Depth” and a documentary titled “A Day in the Life of Refugees.” His musical work, including his EP “Learning to Love,” reflects themes of life, love, and perseverance, drawing from his personal experiences and challenges.
