Award-winning entrepreneur, speaker, humanitarian and author Rumeet Billan is on a mission to design experiences that build resilience and raise potential. Twice named one of the Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada by the Women’s Executive Network, her TEDx talk The Future of Education was highly acclaimed and has been made into a workshop for students in Ontario. She has featured in several leading publications including The Globe and Mail, Forbes and The Financial Post. Billan is also an expert on Pyschological Capital and the CEO and President of Viewpoint Leadership. She is also the best-selling author of the book Who Do I Want To Become, a guide for anyone who can’t answer the tricky question of what they want to be when they grow up.
Billan has contributed to initiatives that have improved the quality of education in Africa, North America and South American since 2004, and has created a platform for women, youth and communities to envision all possibilities. Her incredible vision led to the development and creation of a college for teachers in rural Kenya, and the building of numerous schools and development of breakfast programs, soccer tournaments and scholarships. Billan donated over 280,000 new books to disadvantaged children in the Niagara region of Canada in 2019.
Billan serves on the Board of Directors for renowned global non-profit G(irls)20 and CODE – a leading agency advancing education and literacy. After completing her PhD at the University of Toronto, she has led pioneering research on Tall Poppy Syndrome – the impact of silent system syndrome in the workplace and how it affects women. She is also the National Ambassador for Canadian Mental Health Association initiative Not Myself Today®.
