Ryan Atkinson is a seasoned VIP security professional with a storied career spanning over two decades, safeguarding some of the most iconic musical acts of the past twenty years. Born and raised in Los Angeles County, Atkinson’s natural athleticism propelled him through a successful stint playing American football throughout high school, eventually earning him a scholarship to the University of Kansas, where he graduated in 2002.
Following his graduation, Atkinson embarked on a career in security, initially working with a firm based out of Kansas City. It wasn’t long before his expertise caught the attention of the music industry, and he found himself on the road, providing protection for renowned bands such as The Eagles, Blink 182, and Korn.
Atkinson’s career reached new heights when he assumed the role of venue security director for Pearl Jam, marking his first full-time engagement with a major musical act. Since then, he has crisscrossed the globe, ensuring the safety and well-being of an impressive roster of artists including Good Charlotte, Linkin Park, Dashboard Confessional, Morrissey, Hilary Duff, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and many more.
Beyond his work in VIP security, Atkinson is also a respected instructor, running High Visibility Protection courses and training alongside retired US and Mexican Special Forces Team members in Advanced Carbine/Combat Pistol and Counter Custody/Urban Movement applications. A passionate knife enthusiast and collector, he founded The Fldwrx project during his time touring abroad when firearm carry was restricted, showcasing his adaptability and commitment to innovation in the field of security.
