Ryan Kerrigan is a distinguished figure in Football, transitioning seamlessly from a stellar playing career to a promising coaching trajectory. Born and raised in Muncie, Indiana, Kerrigan’s journey to gridiron glory began at Muncie Central High School, where his talent on the field quickly garnered attention. He continued to excel at Purdue University, where he played college football for the Purdue Boilermakers, earning accolades such as unanimous All-American honors in his senior year.

In 2011, Kerrigan’s professional journey took flight when he was selected by the Washington Commanders (formerly known as the Redskins) in the first round of the NFL draft. Over the next decade, Kerrigan solidified his place as one of the league’s premier defensive players, amassing impressive stats and earning numerous accolades including four Pro Bowl selections.

During his illustrious playing career, Kerrigan etched his name in NFL history as the all-time leader in consecutive starts by a left outside linebacker and as Washington’s all-time leader in sacks and forced fumbles. After retiring from playing in 2021, Kerrigan seamlessly transitioned to coaching, joining the Commanders as an assistant defensive line coach.

In 2024, Kerrigan’s coaching acumen was further recognized when he was promoted to assistant linebackers coach and pass rush specialist under the Commanders’ new head coach, Dan Quinn. With his wealth of experience and passion for the game, Kerrigan continues to make an indelible mark on the sport he loves, now guiding and inspiring the next generation of football talent with the same dedication and expertise that defined his playing days.
