Comic actress Sally Phillips is well known to British TV audiences for her various amusing lead roles. Sally is also an accomplished writer and has previously been called one of the 50 funniest acts in British comedy. A big name in the industry for many years, Sally was the driving force behind flagship Channel 4 comedy show Smack the Pony, while she has also appeared in other cult classics like I’m Alan Partridge, Hippies, the irreverent Green Wing, Parents, US political comedy Veep, Miranda and many others, thereby making her a near constant presence on the screens of UK TV.
As well as on the TV screen, Sally–who was born in Hong Kong and read Italian at Oxford– has also been on the silver screen with roles in hit movies such as The Decoy Bride, which she co-wrote, plus the legendary Bridget Jones. Sally has also been on BBC Radio 4 as the eponymous lead role of Claire in Claire in the Community since 2004. More recently she has been the front woman of a 2017 documentary A World Without Down’s Syndrome on BBC2, which explored the ethical implications of the UK’s national screening policy. The Radio Times nominated it for a Readers’ Award. With great wit, sharpness and intelligence, Sally is a perfect host for a range of corporate events, functions, award ceremonies or charity functions, as well as being a great guest on a range of TV shows, as writer, presenter or to talk about her life in comedy.
