Thomas Weston Segura was born on April 16, 1979, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Rosario “Charo” Lazarte, a Peruvian immigrant, and Thomas Nadeau Segura, who was a First Vice President of Merrill Lynch. Segura grew up speaking Spanish and spent his summers in Lima, Peru. He graduated from Saint Edward’s School in Vero Beach, Florida, and later attended Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina. At the age of 19, he experienced a serious health incident, overdosing on GHB and falling into a short coma.
Segura began his stand-up comedy career shortly after graduating from Lenoir-Rhyne University, initially performing at night while holding other daytime jobs. His early professional efforts included an internship at Kopelson Entertainment, followed by a paid position as a logger, transcribing reality shows such as ‘Extreme Makeover’ and ‘My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss’. He has performed at several comedy festivals, including the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, The Comedy Festival, the Global Comedy Festival in Vancouver, and the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival. He was also a San Francisco regional finalist on ‘Last Comic Standing 2’ and is a frequent guest on ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, with his first appearance on episode 8.
In 2010, Segura and his wife, fellow comedian Christina Pazsitzky, launched their podcast ‘Your Mom’s House’, which they co-host. The couple also secured a TV deal with CBS in 2018 for a pilot production commitment for their show ‘The Little Things’. Segura has released multiple successful Netflix stand-up specials, including ‘Completely Normal’ (2014), ‘Mostly Stories’ (2016), ‘Disgraceful’ (2018), ‘Ball Hog’ (2020), and ‘Sledgehammer’ (2023).
