Sam Kerr is a professional soccer player known for her prolific goal-scoring and dynamic presence on the field, establishing herself as a leading figure in women’s football globally. After earning her first senior international cap at just 15 years old in 2009, Sam Kerr went on to establish herself as a dominant force in women’s football globally. Her early career in Australia included her W-League debut at 15 with Perth Glory (2008-2012), where she earned Players’ Player and Goal of the Year at the 2009 W-League Awards. Internationally, Kerr secured her first trophy by scoring the opening goal in the 2010 AFC Women’s Asian Cup final, following her success in winning the AFF U-16 Women’s Championship in 2009.
She also secured multiple W-League Golden Boots, including 201718 and 201819, and was named AFC Women’s Footballer of the Year in 2017. In 2019, Kerr signed with Chelsea in the Women’s Super League, quickly becoming instrumental in their success. She has led Chelsea to multiple FA Women’s Super League titles (201920, 202021, 202223, 202324) and reached the UEFA Women’s Champions League final in 2021. As a cornerstone for the Australia women’s national team, the Matildas, Kerr has participated in four FIFA Women’s World Cups (2011, 2015, 2019, 2023) and two Summer Olympics (2016, 2020).
Despite an ACL injury in January 2024, she signed a two-year contract extension with Chelsea until 2026, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to the sport.
