Sanita Puspure is a decorated rower, having achieved multiple World and European Championship titles, and has transitioned into a coaching role upon concluding her competitive career. After securing consecutive gold medals in the Womens Single Scull at the World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv (2018) and Ottensheim (2019), Sanita Puspure established herself as a dominant force in international rowing. Puspure began her international career in 1999, initially representing Latvia, where she earned a bronze medal in the single scull at the World Under-23 Championships in 2003 and a gold medal in the double scull at the World Student Games in 2004. Upon obtaining Irish nationality in 2011, Puspure quickly integrated into the Irish rowing scene, winning the Irish Championships Single Sculls title in both 2009 and 2010, and also adding the Double Sculls title in 2010.
Puspure continued to demonstrate her versatility and longevity in the sport, earning a World Rowing Cup II Bronze in the Women’s Single Scull in 2021. She transitioned to the Women’s Double Sculls, achieving a bronze medal at the 2022 World Rowing Championships in Ra?ice and a bronze at the 2023 European Rowing Championships in Bled. Her consistent performance is underscored by her maintaining a position within the top four in her category since 2017, concluding her competitive career with a final appearance in the Women’s Coxless Four at the 2023 World Rowing Championships. Following a highly decorated competitive career, Puspure transitioned into a leadership role as head coach at UCC Rowing Club in Cork.
In this capacity, she leverages her extensive experience and proven track record to mentor and develop new talent, continuing her significant contribution to the sport of rowing in Ireland.
