Born Sean Thomas Brady on November 23, 1992, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sean Brady began his combat sports journey by training Muay Thai and subsequently Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu during his time at Swenson Arts and Technology High School, where he studied to become an auto mechanic. He competed extensively in the Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC), where he built an undefeated professional record of 10-0. His achievements in CFFC included capturing the Welterweight title with a submission victory over Mike Jones and successfully defending it against Taj Abdul-Hakim with a fourth-round knockout. This dominant run earned him a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Brady made his UFC debut on October 18, 2019, at UFC on ESPN 6, securing a unanimous decision victory over Court McGee. He continued his winning streak with further unanimous decision wins against Ismail Naurdiev in February 2020 and a technical submission (guillotine choke) victory over Christian Aguilera in August 2020, which earned him his first “Performance of the Night” award. In March 2021, he submitted Jake Matthews via arm-triangle choke at UFC 259. After recovering from injuries that led to the cancellation of previously scheduled bouts, Brady defeated Michael Chiesa via unanimous decision in November 2021. His first professional loss occurred in October 2022 against Belal Muhammad at UFC 280.
Brady returned to winning form in December 2023 at UFC on ESPN 52, submitting Kelvin Gastelum with a kimura and earning another “Performance of the Night” bonus. He further solidified his standing in the division with a unanimous decision victory over Gilbert Burns in September 2024. Most recently, in March 2025, Brady showcased his grappling prowess by submitting former UFC Welterweight champion Leon Edwards with a guillotine choke in the fourth round at UFC Fight Night 255, a performance that earned him his third “Performance of the Night” award. He is scheduled to face Michael Morales at UFC 322 in November 2025.
