Marcin Held was born on January 18, 1992, in Tychy, Poland. He began training in submission grappling at the age of nine, developing a strong foundation in submission wrestling controls and Sambo-style leglock systems. Held became the youngest person in Poland to receive a jiu-jitsu black belt at 21 years old. His early career saw him competing frequently in Poland, quickly gaining recognition as “the prodigy of Polish MMA.” He maintained an undefeated record of 8-0 before experiencing his first professional loss in 2010. Throughout his development, Held consistently participated in submission grappling competitions, notably in Quintet and Polaris, even as his MMA career progressed. These early years established his reputation as a formidable grappler within the combat sports community.
Held’s professional mixed martial arts career, which began in 2008, has featured extensive competition in prominent organizations worldwide. From 2010 to 2016, he was a key figure in Bellator MMA, where he challenged for the Bellator Lightweight Championship in 2015.
