He continued his junior success by securing a gold in the K1 team event and a silver in the individual K1 at the 2006 Junior World Championships in Solkan, representing Germany. Schubert made his senior international debut at the European Championships in Krakow in 2008, quickly demonstrating his technical skill and consistency.
