Shamon Brown Jr is an actor and music artist who has grown up around the indie film scene his whole life. At the tender age of five years old had the opportunity to work with Chicago local independent playwrights and artists in several theatre productions, which inspired Brown to persue his acting career . Brown has also featured in various print advertisements, and drama series Chicago Fire; with Dick Wolf as the executive producer.
The actor has also performed in the celebrated band Plain White T’s music video “American Nights”, which was a exemplary single for the iconic indie-rock band. Brown’s most recent and best known project is portraying the role of Papa in The Chi – produced by Emmy Award winner screenwriter, producer and actress Lena Waite. The Chi is a poignant coming of age drama series shown on network Showtime, which is centered on a group of residents whose lives are intertwined through their mutual need for connection, empathy and redemption. The Chi has won several awards, including the winner of the Black Reel award for best directing.
Brown is also a successful musician, with a new melodious track released called Lonely Nights; Brown has also released several songs to his Instagram followers which number over 55 thousand, with several snippets of his latest EP receiving regularly over 5 thousand likes. The actor and musician also appears regularly in commercials, music concerts and voice overs.
