Professional wrestler Shazza McKenzie is one of Australia’s best loved female wrestlers and currently competes on the indie circuit including the Professional Wrestling Alliance.
McKenzie began wrestling when she was just 16 years old, joining a local wrestling school and training until she qualified in 2008. Her first official match was for the Australasian Wrestling Federation, and for the next four years she clocked up numerous matches across Australia. She worked with promotions including Insane Championship Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Australia, Riot City Wrestling and Newcastle Pro Wrestling. By now she had built up a strong reputation for herself, and started to be noticed overseas by American promotions including East Coast Wrestling and Wrestling is Fun!. Over the next few months McKenzie played matches as part of IndyGurlz Championship Wrestling, competing in the Grand Prix and joining SHINE Wrestling in 2012. She made numerous appearances with the promotion over the next four years, and by now was a well known sportswoman both in Australia and across the USA. She also signed a developmental contract with WWE in 2015 with whom she trained with for a few years, whilst also competing in SHIMMER Women Athletics.
As well as a packed schedule of training and matches, McKenzie also runs her own gym and is an advocate for girls in sport. She is the host of her own podcast, That’s So Shazza, and is now hugely popular with fans across the world.
