Shona Vertue is an Australian Yoga teacher, health and fitness guru, best-selling author, and Instagram star. One of her celebrity clients is David Beckham, who credits her with changing his perspective on yoga. She is the founder of the Vertue Method online training programme that has thousands of subscribers in over 60 countries. With 95,000 subscribers, her YouTube channel, featuring free weekly workouts and advice, has become one of the most popular Yoga channels in the UK, whilst her Instagram account has amassed over 400,000 followers.
Vertue developed her eponymous method over a decade of fitness training. An elite gymnast and classical dancer from a young age, she became interested in yoga after her developing chronic pain whilst working in an office. She is also qualified in the arts of Chinese massage and dry needling. Once she began working as a personal trainer, Vertue forsook punishing routines and constant high-intensity interval training, seeking to combine fitness workouts with yoga and meditation — a combination that has made her name and continues to raise her profile.
Since moving to London in 2014, Vertue has become the UK and Ireland ambassador for iconic sportswear brand New Balance, endorsing their clothing and holding classes at their flagship London store. In 2017, her first book, The Vertue Method: A Stronger, Fitter, Healthier You — in 28 Days was published by respected publishing house Hodder & Stoughton. One of this incredible woman’s more unusual claims to fame is that she developed a pre-flight yoga routine that is shown on screens around London’s Gatwick Airport.
