Sierra Capri was born on September 8, 1998, in Baltimore, Maryland, and later relocated to Georgia at the age of 12. Her interest in acting developed early, and she promised her parents she would complete college before pursuing an acting career full-time. While a biology student in Savannah, Georgia, she gained initial experience as an uncredited extra in films such as “Hidden Figures” (2016) and “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” (2016).
A significant turning point in Capri’s career occurred when she auditioned for the Netflix series “On My Block.” With the assistance of another actress, she submitted audition tapes and was ultimately cast in the lead role of Monse Finnie. This opportunity led her to leave college to begin filming the series. “On My Block” premiered in 2018 and ran until 2021, receiving critical acclaim for its ensemble cast. Capri’s performance was noted, and the show cultivated a loyal fanbase. Her ability to relate to her character, Monse, stemmed from her own multicultural background and experiences.
Following her success on “On My Block,” Capri expanded her filmography, starring as Kai in the indie film “American Skin” (2019), which premiered at the Venice Film Festival. In 2023, she took on the role of Cassidy in the Sundance film “Young. Wild. Free.” This project allowed her to explore a character she described as unpredictable, and the film garnered attention for its discussion of mental health within minority communities. Capri continues to pursue diverse roles, aiming to challenge the status quo and fulfill her aspirations within the industry, including a dream to work in Marvel.
