Born on June 25, 1979, in Dielsdorf, Switzerland, Silvana Tirinzoni embarked on her curling journey early, showcasing significant talent from her junior years. In 1997, she served as an alternate for the Swiss team at the World Junior Curling Championships. The following year, she skipped the Swiss junior team to a sixth-place finish. Her breakthrough occurred in 1999 when she led her team to win the World Junior Curling Championships, marking her first major international title. After finishing the round robin in second place, Tirinzoni’s team secured gold with decisive wins in the semi-final and final matches.
Tirinzoni’s senior career saw her represent Switzerland in numerous international competitions. She first competed at the World Women’s Curling Championship in 2006, followed by another appearance in 2007. Despite strong performances, including a fifth-place finish in 2007, Olympic qualification remained a goal. In 2017, she achieved this milestone by leading her team to victory in the Swiss Olympic Curling Trials, earning a spot at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. During the 2018–19 season, Tirinzoni transitioned roles, skipping the team from the third position while Alina Pätz threw fourth rocks. This strategic change led to a silver medal at the 2018 European Curling Championships and, notably, a gold medal at the 2019 World Women’s Curling Championship in Silkeborg, Denmark.
Continuing her successful partnership with Alina Pätz, Tirinzoni achieved an unprecedented run of four consecutive World Women’s Curling Championship titles from 2019 to 2023. This remarkable achievement, including victories in 2021, 2022, and 2023, cemented her status as one of the sport’s most decorated curlers. Her team also secured gold medals at the European Curling Championships in 2023 and 2024, maintaining a perfect record in the latter. Additionally, Tirinzoni has won five Grand Slam titles, including the 2015 Tour Challenge, 2019 Champions Cup, 2022 National, 2024 Players’ Championship, and 2025 Players’ Championship, demonstrating sustained excellence and strategic adaptability throughout her career.
