Simon Becher

Simon Becher was born on July 20, 1999, in Topeka, Kansas, and grew up in Brooklyn, Connecticut. He attended The Woodstock Academy before beginning his collegiate soccer career. Becher initially played for the Holy Cross Crusaders before transferring to Saint Louis University. During his time at Saint Louis University, he made 47 appearances, scoring 21 goals and providing 13 assists. His performance led to him being named Saint Louis University’s Most Outstanding Male Athlete, marking a significant milestone in his early career.

Becher’s professional journey began in 2019 with Reading United AC in USL League Two, where he scored 7 goals in 10 appearances. He continued in USL League Two with the Ocean City Nor’easters in 2021, registering 11 goals in 12 games. His consistent performance led to him being drafted 16th overall by Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft. He signed a professional contract with Whitecaps FC 2 in MLS Next Pro in March 2022, leading the team with eight goals that season. His impactful play earned him a short-term loan to the Vancouver Whitecaps first team in August 2022, where he scored his first Major League Soccer goal in his debut.

In November 2022, Becher signed a permanent MLS contract with Vancouver Whitecaps FC. He quickly made an impact, including a notable two-goal performance against CF Montreal on April 1, 2023. This performance made him the fastest player in MLS history to score his first four goals, achieving this feat in just 87 minutes across three games. He was subsequently named MLS Player of the Week for this achievement. In January 2024, Becher transferred to AC Horsens in the Danish 1st Division. Seven months later, he returned to MLS on loan with St. Louis City SC, a move that was made permanent in April 2025. He has recorded 9 goals and 6 assists in 48 appearances for St. Louis City SC since joining. He also won the Canadian Championship with Vancouver Whitecaps in 2023.
