Simone Blum

Simone Blum was born on March 22, 1989, in Freising, Germany. She initially began her equestrian career as an eventing rider, following in the footsteps of her father, Jürgen Blum, an Olympic eventing rider. However, she soon transitioned to specialize in show jumping. By the age of 15, Blum had already secured fourth place at the European Pony Championships. Her early career also saw her win silver in 2015 and gold in 2016 at the German Women’s Championships. In 2017, she entered the open classification and became the German champion with her mare, DSP Alice, leading to her call-up to the German A-squad.

A significant turning point in Blum’s career occurred in 2018 when she and DSP Alice were part of the victorious German team in the Nations Cup of Aachen. This achievement led to her selection for the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, North Carolina. At these games, Blum achieved individual gold and team bronze, a remarkable feat that made her the first German rider to win an individual gold medal in showjumping at the World Equestrian Games. Her performance was particularly notable as she was the only rider to complete all five stages of the competition with clear rounds.

Blum has maintained a strong partnership with DSP Alice, a chestnut German Sport Horse mare born in 2007, throughout her most significant achievements. In 2019, she earned a silver medal in Team Jumping at the European Championships in Rotterdam, where she also placed fourth individually. Beyond her competitive accomplishments, Blum holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry and Biology from the Technical University of Munich. She resides in Zolling, near Munich, and married fellow show jumper Hans-Günter Blum (formerly Goskowitz) in October 2018. Her career highlights include consistent top-tier performances, demonstrating dedication and skill in show jumping.
