Her professional journey began with a remarkable debut at the 2013 World Championships in Schladming, where she showcased her talent by securing two top ten finishes. Goggia’s ascent in the World Cup circuit was marked by her first podium in November 2016, followed by her inaugural World Cup victory in downhill at Jeongseon, South Korea, in March 2017, solidifying her status as a formidable competitor.
In 2018, Goggia achieved a historic milestone by winning the gold medal in downhill at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, becoming the first Italian woman to do so. Her resilience shone through in subsequent seasons, where she demonstrated remarkable consistency and skill. Goggia won multiple races in the 2020 and 2021 seasons, including a historic ‘hat-trick’ in Lake Louise, and secured her second World Cup downhill championship in 2021. Her ability to overcome injuries and maintain peak performance has made her a role model in the sport.
In the 2022-2023 season, Goggia continued to excel, winning five of nine downhill races and claiming her fourth crystal globe in the discipline. Her dedication and achievements have not only elevated her career but have also inspired a new generation of skiers, establishing her as a prominent figure in alpine skiing.
