Born Stetson Leon Rhodes in Houston, Texas, Youth Soul Love experienced a childhood of frequent relocation across various Houston neighborhoods, including Greenspoint, Cypress, Clear Lake, and Alief. Throughout these transitions, music remained a consistent presence in his life. His musical interests were shaped by artists such as Earth Wind & Fire. A pivotal moment in his artistic development occurred when he missed his senior prom to attend Kanye West’s 2008 Glow in The Dark Tour, an event that influenced his decision to pursue a career in music.
Youth Soul Love officially entered the music industry in 2012. He is recognized for writing and co-producing all of his musical tracks, alongside producing and directing his visual content. In 2018, he released three preview tracks from his EP, “This is Not A Love Story,” which accumulated over 10 million plays on SoundCloud. His music often incorporates elements of his Southern background combined with storytelling.
His artistic approach is characterized by a blend of music, high-quality visuals, and fashion, designed to offer an immersive experience to his audience. Youth Soul Love defines himself as a “conscious Rapper,” focusing his music on current political, social, cultural, and economic themes. He has toured with musicians such as Joyner Lucas and performed at events including Essence Fest and New York’s BET Matters in 2016. He has also engaged in collaborations, including “God Got Me” with Ye (DONDA), “Can’t You See” with JayDon, and a feature on King Moore’s “Wilder Than Me.”
