Steve Cishek

Steven R. Cishek is a distinguished former professional baseball pitcher whose career spanned multiple Major League Baseball (MLB) teams, showcasing his exceptional talent and resilience on the mound. Cishek began his professional journey when he was selected by the Florida Marlins in the fifth round of the 2007 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut in 2010, quickly establishing himself as a reliable pitcher. In 2013, he excelled as the Marlins’ closer, converting 34 of 36 save opportunities and setting an MLB record for saves with a team that lost 100 games, solidifying his reputation as a top-tier reliever.

Following his successful tenure with the Marlins, Cishek was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 2015, where he continued to demonstrate his skills despite limited opportunities. His next significant chapter came with the Seattle Mariners, where he signed a two-year contract and recorded an impressive 25 saves in 31 chances, further enhancing his status as a dependable closer in the league.
